Fiorentina CEO Sandro Mencucci is convinced that Juan Cuadrado will sign outright for the Viola this summer.

The Colombian had an impressive Serie A season for Vincenzo Montella’s team as they finished fourth in the League and reached the Coppa Italia final.

He is currently co-owned by both the Florence club and Udinese but, speaking at a publicity event, the Artemio Franchi official is convinced Cuadrado will remain a Fiorentina player.

“We’re waiting for the owner Andrea Della Valle to return to Florence but our target is to sign Cuadrado from Udinese,” Mencucci told reporters.

“We will meet with the club’s board of directors on June 26 but from the point of view of the technical director, the sporting director and all of the staff there are no doubts. He will stay with us.”

Mencucci was then asked to comment on Fiorentina’s season in general, to which he praised the Viola’s performances but bemoaned their misfortune with injuries.

“This year Fiorentina have done great things despite the many injuries we had during the course of the season.

“The club doesn’t just want to keep hold of this good group, it also wants to look to improve it.

“With the recovery of our best players and with a bit of luck, I am convinced that next season we can reward ourselves with great happiness.

“More than anything, I really hope I can see Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez play together. Given the injuries they have had, they really have been unfortunate.

“I am very pleased for the two young attackers Babacar and Bernardeschi. Soon we will see them in Serie A and I hope one of the two of them can stay at Fiorentina next season.”

Mencucci also confirmed that Real Madrid had invited the Viola to play a pre-season friendly on August 16.

“Playing against the champions of Europe will be a great source of pride for us.”
