Sampdoria have reportedly lined up former Coach Walter Mazzarri as an alternative to Vincenzo Montella.

The Blucerchiati sacked Walter Zenga yesterday and are believed to have agreed personal terms with Montella, but are currently at a standoff with his former employer Fiorentina.

Samp would need to pay La Viola a €5m release clause in order to buy out the ‘Aeroplanino’ from his Fiorentina contract, and have therefore begun considering other options.

Il Secolo XIX has reported today that Mazzarri, who was Coach at the Marassi between 2007 and 2009, has been identified as their second choice.

However, the ex-Inter boss is believed to prefer the idea of a job in England and reports emerged yesterday that the 54-year-old is currently living in Manchester.
