“Let us first wait until our League position in the table is official and then we can discuss my future.
“We need nine more points from five games to make sure that we finish the season in second. We want those points as soon as possible.”
The Azzurri are next in action on Saturday night against bottom of the table Pescara, a side that Mazzarri respects.
“Only those who understand football will know the dangers of such a tie,” he commented. “It’s one of the hardest games that we could face right now.
“Pescara played really well against Roma. If we think it will be an easy game then we run the risk of putting on a bad show.”
Mazzarri was also asked about German football’s rise to prominence in Europe following the wins of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
“We too have been putting plans into place for a few years now,” he explained. “Borussia won the League for two seasons in a row, but they were in the relegation zone three years ago.
“We need another season to understand what level we are at.”
