Juventus’ Alessandro Matri has welcomed the January arrival of veteran French striker Nicolas Anelka.
The latter has signed a short-term contract in Turin after spending the last year in China with Shanghai Shenhua.
“The initial impressions of Anelka are very good,” the former Cagliari forward told Sky Sport Italia. “There’s no doubting his quality.
“He’s always displayed his value, he’s used to winning and has a great international pedigree,” he continued.
“That last aspect will be very useful to us, because there aren’t many in our team who can count on such experience on the European stage.”
Matri scored his fifth League goal of the campaign on Sunday when he netted in the 2-1 win at Chievo Verona.
Anelka was on the bench for that encounter but did not make an appearance.
