Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi believes Inter are 'worth the Scudetto' and discusses his experience as a Coach in India.

The 42-year-old won the Indian title with Chennaiyin, making it his first trophy as a Coach after many victories as a player.

His contract as player-manager in India is now over and he is expected to look for a new position.

“I'm proud of my boys,” he told Tuttosport. “We never gave up. And when we bid farewell, many of them wept. That moment is what I really take home from this experience.

“Conquering the Indian championship was an extraordinary experience. It's reminiscent of the past in that I received many messages to congratulate me, from former Inter players like [Samuel] Eto'o and Azzurri teammates like [Alessandro] Del Piero and [Alessandro] Nesta, who were in India one year ago.

“I'm particularly proud of the respect that's been shown to me by the team. That's what happens when a Coach can put the group ahead of his ego, and it's an important part of the final result.

“The Indian championship is compelling, the level is that of the higher strata of Serie B. And there are coaches like Zico, Roberto Carlos, [Nicolas] Anelka and [David] Platt, as well as worthy footballers like Lucio, Helder Postiga, [John Arne] Riise, and [Florent] Malouda.

“My future? It's early to say, but I must admit it was magnificent here, not least with the Chennaiyin club. I'll take every decision together with my family.”

Finally Materazzi gave his opinion on the current Serie A championship.

“The Nerazzurri are a great team and they have no cups to play in. Until the defeat against Lazio the repeated formation changes were a strength, and they were absorbed very well by the players.

“You can't look down on them now. This Inter is worth the Scudetto.”
