Giovanni Martusciello believes Lazio are ‘on the right path’ despite a 2-2 draw against Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico.
Maurizio Sarri is serving a two-match ban after being sent off against Milan last week, so Martusciello took charge and spoke to the media after Lazio’s 2-2 stalemate against Cagliari.
“We played well, at a high pace, we had prepared the game with quick aggressions. There was an important team performance in the first half. In football, a small drop of tension is enough to concede a goal,” the former Empoli coach said.

“We reacted in the final minutes of the game and we were good to score the equaliser. It was an important performance, don’t forget this team has different habits. Today’s game showed we are on the right path.
“We still need to fix some details, but the lads are improving, there is a great commitment. A lot will depend on what they’ll be able to create in the final third.”
Should Lazio strikers press defenders more?
“I don’t agree, especially in the first part, we managed to steal the ball in their own half. Then they forced us to defend and trackback, creating trouble for us.”
