“Without doubt, Inter have the prestige that means we must play every tournament aiming for the maximum result,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.
Christian Eriksen has been chosen to start this tie in Razgrad, after sitting the last few Serie A and Coppa Italia matches out.
“We and all the fans are eager to see Eriksen, but the coach is very good at evaluating the right moment to use his players. He watches them carefully in training and having three tournaments means everyone is available and a first choice, there are no second choice players here.”
Samir Handanovic is still unavailable after suffering a hairline fracture to the little finger on his left hand.
“Handanovic is in the recovery process, it’ll take a few more days. The evaluation is up to the medical staff, we hope he’ll be back next week, or thereabouts.”
Lionel Messi has again openly praised Lautaro Martinez and spoken about him as a potential future Barcelona player. Does this attitude irritate Marotta?
“I think it’s a reason for the lad and also the club to be proud. Those who brought him to Inter deserve compliments for their intuition.
“A champion like Messi sees the quality of Lautaro and considers him as a potential heir, so that can only be praise and further motivation to keep growing to reach his full potential.”
