There were mixed reports this morning, as the Corriere dello Sport claimed Real Madrid were prepared to almost ‘repossess’ Achraf Hakimi for unpaid instalments, then the Spaniards released a formal statement to deny that story.

“In recent weeks we’ve seen a lot of reports, some of them true, some pure speculation aimed at destabilising the club,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“That is not possible to do, because this is a strong club, the management guarantees unity and nobody can doubt the unity at this club.”

Inter are in talks with BC Partners to sell shares and seek new investment, but they won’t be active on the transfer market.

“As I said before, our transfer window is closed. We want to give the right level of consideration to our current group. We were looking around for opportunities, but there aren’t any, as we are going through a difficult moment for the club.

“We must therefore fill in the gaps with extraordinary values we cannot buy on the market, which are identity, love for the jersey and passion.

“Matias Vecino has joined the squad for training this week and we hope he can act like a new signing after his injury.”

Marotta was asked if Inter might recall a midfielder who is on loan, for example Lucien Agoume from Spezia?

“Agoume was born in 2002, he needs to play consistently. Taking him back to Inter now would be unfair to Spezia and difficult for him.”
