Udinese’s chances of gaining points has been bolstered somewhat by the absence of Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
“Obviously it is complicated, but we must face it with the warrior spirit of a side that knows there is a gap in terms of quality, so we can bridge it with determination,” the director told Sky Sport Italia.
“We all know Handanovic is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so on paper it is an advantage. On the other hand, I also know Padelli is a good shot-stopper.
“If we can get an unstoppable strike, then it won’t matter who is in goal.”
Coach Luca Gotti was only supposed to be a temporary measure, but the assistant has impressed in his role as coach.
“It had become a bit of a joke between us, because everyone liked the way he played football and he is to all intents and purposes the coach of Udinese.
“I think he does the job very well and I hope he will accept the role, because he has been able to shift from an assistant’s approach to that of the head coach.
"Gotti has two degrees too, so he’s a wonderful person to talk to.”
