Up until now, Udinese had been the only Serie A club without any Coronavirus cases.
“In the middle of this pandemic, Udinese had managed to be a protected isle, thanks to the organisation of the club and a strict imposition of protocols that allowed us to exclude contagion,” director Marino told DAZN.
“Then a player returned from international duty, tested positive and from there the contagion spread.
“Obviously, it’s not his fault, but that of a FIFA system that at this moment does not work and we are forced to pay for the consequences.
“When we have to delay wage payments so we can protect our players by funnelling resources into the protocol and then get damaged by those who went on international duty, we have to make our protest heard.”
