The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Sevilla, who ended the campaign by winning the competition.
Speaking in his first Press conference as a Viola player, the German expressed his desire to repeat the feat.
“Florence is a very attractive place from a footballing point of view,” Marin told reporters. “I want to do my best here.
“The crucial thing now is to avoid injuries. Playing consistently is my target. I would also like to win the Europa League.
“There are a lot of great players and a lot of young players here.”
Marin then revealed he had sought the advice of former Viola forward Stevan Jovetic before deciding to join the club, adding that he had not spoken to compatriot Mario Gomez.
“I haven’t spoken to Mario, but I did speak to Jovetic who spoke very highly of Florence.
“I asked Jovetic if I could take it [the number eight shirt] and he was enthusiastic about it. I also asked him a lot about Florence and the club.
“I hope to be back as soon as possible, though I’m already feeling quite good.”
Finally, the player answered questions on his new teammates, Coach Vincenzo Montella and his hopes of getting back into his national side.
“I already knew Savic and Tomovic as people, and I also know Rossi and Borja Valero for their great quality. I can’t wait to play together with them.
“Montella is a great Coach and I am sure that together we can do very well.
“I hope to get back into the national team as soon as possible. That will be one of my main aims wearing the Viola shirt.”
