Diego Armando Maradona confirmed he is in talks to work with Napoli again. “After 30 years that love remains intact, just as it was the first day.”
The legend is in the city for a theatrical event celebrating the Scudetto on Monday evening and arrived last night, greeted by hundreds of fans outside the hotel.
“I am surprised every time. I spoke to my friends and said there are kids here who never even saw me with the ball at my feet, yet they’re moved to tears at getting a photograph with me,” Maradona told Sky Sport Italia.

“This touches me, as the affection and love of the Neapolitans for me is passed down from father to son. After 30 years that love remains intact, just as it was the first day I arrived.
“I feel joy every time I return here. To see people smiling, believing they can win another Scudetto, the look in their faces is wonderful.”
Maradona also met with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis last night.
“It was the first step towards coming back to Napoli. We discussed some of the issues I have in Italy and then I’d love to work for Napoli in the world.
“There are Neapolitans all over the world in Venezuela, Colombia, always two or three Neapolitans who call out to me wherever I go.
“I want to do things properly, I want to see the winning team that can face off on a par with Juve, Inter, Milan and Roma. De Laurentiis realised that, as the President didn’t know much about football a few years ago, but now he’s an expert.”
Alessandro ‘Billy’ Costacturta was in the studio and asked why Maradona never went down under his tackles during those famous Napoli-Milan clashes.
“Because my desire to get the ball was stronger than the pain!”
