Napoli and Argentina legend Diego Armando Maradona has touched down in Italy in order to explain his tax situation.
The former No 10 landed at Roma’s Fiumicino airport at 13.25 local time where he was met by lawyer Angelo Pisani.
Maradona will now head to Naples for a Press conference where he will explain the questions about his financial status.
“I am not a tax fraudster and I am not afraid of returning to Italy,” Maradona stated last year. “I played football and other people signed for me. I never signed anything.
“The people who are really responsible are free and can walk around freely in Naples and I can't. That's not fair.
“I want to return to Italy as a gentleman because I never stole anything from anyone.”
Maradona, who played for the Azzurri between 1984 and 1991, a period in which they won two Scudetti, was handed a €35m tax bill in 2005.
