The Nerazzurri’s hopes of catching Roma in third place for the Champions League have collapsed after this evening’s 1-0 result at Marassi.
“We deserved to win, unfortunately this is football,” Mancini told Mediaset Premium.
“I complimented the lads, as they played well. We fell asleep on the goal, but they all did well other than that.
“After the first half we should’ve been 2-0 up, then it became a different match. Genoa are a solid side, so if you don’t break the deadlock, of course there are going to be risks on the counter.
“We are a team who need to improve in front of goal. It was an absurd game, and it’s incredible to lose when it would’ve been ridiculous even to get a draw.
“The Champions League qualification was very difficult before and it is now.”
