Alberto Malesani saved Bologna amid financial problems and points penalties. “This has without doubt been one of the greatest achievements of my career.”

The Rossoblu were in chaos for most of the campaign, starting when Franco Colomba was fired 48 hours before the opening game, while they risked bankruptcy, went through several Presidents and were docked three points.

“We will talk about my future after the final game with Bari. However it goes, Bologna has been a great experience for me,” said the Coach.

“I learned so much and feel enriched. This season has without doubt been one of the greatest achievements of my career.

“Aside from the last month in which tiredness set in, we could not have asked for any more from these players. Everyone put the interests of Bologna ahead of their own.

“These lads have shown that football is not just about money, but real moral values. This is why on Sunday evening, regardless of the performance, I want the team to be applauded.

“We achieved safety amid a thousand obstacles and wanted it with a passion. The players motivated me rather than the other way round. They let me feel like their reference point and I will never forget it.”
