Alberto Malesani had celebrated Bologna's safety over a month ago, but now finds himself perhaps needing a result against Fiorentina today.

Usually in Serie A the 40-point mark is enough to secure their status in the top flight, but a run of one point from six rounds has seen the Rossoblu dragged back into the doubt zone.

“It won't be a simple match, as Fiorentina have found their form since recuperating many of their injured players. It's up to us to be superior in terms of motivation.

“It won't be a simple match, as Fiorentina have found their form since recuperating many of their injured players. It's up to us to be superior in terms of motivation.

“Our opponents want to end the season in a positive way in front of their home fans, while our target is to make that final step towards safety.

“We just have to concentrate on our own game without thinking about the results of other teams in the relegation race.”

Albin Ekdal is suspended, while Antonio Busce, Gyorgy Garics and Bruno Montelongo are sidelined.

It is also a special game for Malesani, who made his Serie A management debut here in 1997-98.

“It's always a pleasure for me to return to Florence, as it is an unforgettable city and tied to a very important time in my life.”
