Olympic chief Giovanni Malago is keeping coy on who the FIGC’s new President will be but has acknowledged Francesco Totti’s support for Damiano Tommasi.
Tommasi has emerged as a frontrunner for the vacancy, with Totti throwing his support behind the former Roma midfielder and head of the Italian players’ union, but Malago made it clear he was staying out of the process to appoint Carlo Tavecchio’s successor.

“I won’t say anything because whatever I say would be exploited,” he told Il Messaggero.
“I’ve read Totti’s endorsement for Damiano Tommasi, and it’s normal as they’re friends and former teammates.
“After that, it seems to me that there’s also [Roma boss] Di Francesco, who knows him well, but I wouldn’t be a serious person if I say ‘this is fine, this isn’t good.’
“I also have no reason to do so. I didn’t do it with other federations so you can forget me doing it in football.”
