After his comment to an Inter fan yesterday that a move to Juventus will likely not ‘happen,’ reports suggest Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea have set a deadline.

The striker spent last season on loan at Inter and had seemed to be on the verge of making that a permanent move when suddenly it all collapsed amid rumours he was talking to their Serie A arch-rivals Juve.

The Belgian himself was caught on video telling an Inter supporter “I don’t think a deal will happen,” but the Corriere dello Sport remain adamant Juve are the only club on his mind.

According to the Corriere della Sera newspaper, that won’t last forever and Lukaku’s entourage have set the Bianconeri a deadline to get a deal sorted or he will look elsewhere.

That deadline is believed to be the end of this week.

In order to get €40m to buy Lukaku outright from Chelsea, they would need to sell Dusan Vlahovic for €80m and there are currently no buyers.

  1. this is a non-sense article, the deadline is the last day of mercato and we all know it. Chelsea can either budge and release Lukaka in a loss, or they can pay him 15M for nothing.
