Lucio has told fans of Inter that he is desperate to remain with the Italian giants.
The big Brazilian is presently contracted to the outfit until June 2012 and talks are understood to have already begun.
"I hope to stay here," he told Inter Channel. "I'm waiting for my agreement to be renewed because it is my desire to remain.
"I have been at this club for two years now and they have been wonderful, but it will be up to the club to decide."

It was reported yesterday that discussions regarding a new contract had encountered problems.
Lucio allegedly wants a deal until 2014, but Inter are keener on handing him just a 12-month extension instead.
"After winning the World Cup, the most beautiful thing I have experienced is the Champions League with Inter," the defender continued when asked to reflect on his time at San Siro.
"Especially after a bad experience like I had with Louis Van Gaal and Bayern Munich. He didn't know me well and believed that I was no longer necessary to the squad.
"Then, after a year came the Final and it was Bayern Munich v Inter – it's something that only God could explain.
"For me it was justice that God wanted and that something that had been so horrible for me could become the most beautiful thing in life."
The former Bundesliga stopper could get his hands on more silverware this weekend when Inter play Palermo in the Coppa Italia Final.
"We can't expect that an easy match is awaiting us against Palermo," the Selecao international added.
"We should not look at who the opponent is, but rather take to the pitch and play our game, to win. The more difficult the matches are, the more we need to show our character.
"I'm a simple man, but when I step on the pitch I want to win. And when the difficulties grow, your effort must grow just as much to match them."
