Lucas Leiva believes beating Milan today would be ‘crucial’ to Lazio’s ambitions this season.
The Biancocelesti are third in Serie A and are the highest goalscorers in Italy’s top flight this campaign.
They are well on course for a return to the Champions League group stage for the first time in over a decade.
And the Brazilian midfielder, who signed for the club from Liverpool last summer, is pleased with the contribution he has made to his new club so far and is optimistic for the future.

“I know that I can still evolve more and give more to the team,” Lucas told Lance.
“But I think I am on the right track. I am pleased with the recognition of the fans, for individual awards, but I want to achieve a lot more.
“Now we have a difficult and very important match against Milan.
“Hopefully I can continue helping the team with my work and we can get the crucial win we need for our aspitations this season.”
The defensive midfielder put his Lazio renainssance down to increased playing time, with opportunities at Liverpool more and more limited prior to his Anfield departure.
“When I opted to sign for Lazio, one of my biggest targets was to try to play consistently and be on the pitch regularly.
“Thankfully, after a lot of work and adaptation, I can say today that I am achieving those targets.”
