Germany manager Joachim Löw is looking forward to Friday’s friendly against Italy. “They are smart and artisan illusionists.”

The international test is at San Siro on Friday evening as a warm-up for the 2014 World Cup.

“We could not have faced a better opponent,” said Löw ahead of his 100th game on the German bench.

“They are a unique team able to control, change and adjust their style like nobody else. When you think you’ve got the game in hand, they emerge and change everything.

“Italy are a smart side, they are artisan illusionists and unique in the world.”

Serie A based strikers Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez are both injured, while Per Mertesacker will only join the side next week.

“It’s a shame, but I have other players of the same level. I told everyone there aren’t many matches from here to the World Cup, but if they think their spot is secure then they’re wrong.”
