“Today Lazio is an economically-healthy club and in sporting terms the results are of a very high level.
“The Lazio fans realised, albeit after a while, what kind of a person I am. I am someone who brings passion, determination and above all a desire to change the system, which means bringing the individual back to the centre with all his needs.”
Lotito bought Lazio on the verge of bankruptcy in July 2004, but turned the situation around and they are now third in Serie A, top of their Europa League group and in the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
The main reason Lotito was able to rescue the club was a deal with the Government, at the time run by Berlusconi’s Forza Italia party, to spread out the €140m debt to the State over a 23-year period.
As President of Lazio, Lotito has won two editions of the Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cup trophies.
