The man at the centre of the Claudio Lotito phoncecall furore has described the Lazio President as a ‘miserable human being’.
Pino Iodice, a director of Lega Pro side Ischia Isolaverde released a recording on Friday of Lotito disparaging football’s leaders and saying Carpi and Frosinone shouldn’t be allowed into Serie A.
A meeting of the Lega Pro will take place today, and Iodice spoke to assembled journalists outside the organisation’s headquarters.
“I don’t have to answer to anyone, Lotito is a miserable human being,” Iodice blasted.
“He talks about my CV, my past, but he doesn’t have any arguments for what’s in the phonecall. Other files? There are texts, there are more recordings.
“Now there is no confusion any longer, hopefully this will be an important turning point in football.
“I reiterate what I’ve said in recent days, I hope that there is government intervention to clear up this mess, and people like Lotito who are not good for football.
“The system is failing, and it’s his fault too.
“Do I fear a cover-up? I don’t want to think that, because if that happened we’d be in a Banana Republic.”
