Adem Ljajic admits he was “angry with myself” after wasting a golden opportunity in Roma’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
The young Serb was seen almost in tears on the bench after his substitution, flinging a water bottle into the ground.
“We were very close to achieving what we wanted, to get through this very tough group. We knew before the games began that it would be very difficult,” he told Sport Mediaset.

“I thought we played all the games well, aside from one against Bayern Munich, but we didn’t progress.
“I was angry with myself, as I wasted a great chance. I had dribbled past the player and then shot really badly. I wasn’t upset with the substitution, but with myself.
“Now we have to get our heads back in Serie A and if we do well there then we can get back into the Champions League, which is what we want.
“There’s the Europa League too, which is important, but we’ve said many times the Scudetto is our main objective. We are three points behind Juve, play one round at a time and see what happens.”
