Fabio Liverani and Parma ‘obviously have regrets at not winning’ against Inter after taking a 2-0 lead, but explains the difficulty of dealing with a COVID outbreak.
Gervinho’s brace had put the Ducali 2-0 up at San Siro, but Marcelo Brozovic’s deflected effort and a last-gasp Ivan Perisic header on a corner sealed a 2-2 draw.
“It’s obvious we have regrets at not winning, as we played the game that we could afford to play at this moment in time,” Liverani told Sky Sport Italia.
The Ducali were again decimated by COVID-19 and injuries, with another four players over the last 24 hours becoming reinfected.
“We played with heart and sacrifice. The difficulties over the last month and a half meant we simply couldn’t train together with any sense of consistency. We hope this period can pass and allow us to do some genuine work in the following months.
“It is really tough when you go to bed thinking of a line-up, then the result of a swab five hours before a game changes everything. The lads are trying, that gives me hope, and my plan usually is to take the initiative in games, when we have the quality to achieve that.
“Today, we defended more in the central areas, so leaving the flanks more exposed was part of the plan.”
