Parma start with a home game against Napoli today and Liverani said first match will help him get an idea of ‘where we are’, despite the tough opponent.
“It’s an atypical week. The team have worked well, knowing the difficulties we will encounter,” Liverani told at a press conference. “Napoli have kept almost their entire squad and have made a purchase worth €70m-80m.
“They will be a slightly bigger obstacle, given that they haven’t changed much since last season. I asked to play a game to see where we are.
“There are five substitutions, we can change the game midways. We will evaluate whether to play with two strikers or only one.
“I still have to make some evaluations.”
Liverani stressed the group need to be united ahead of the new campaign.
“It’s a very high value, those who have a strong and united group, have better chances to do well.
“In my career, the great satisfactions came with a great group. I enjoyed seeing the whole team at dinner the other night. I was pleased.
“That’s an appointment I would like to keep during the year, it has a very high value.”
