Former Juventus boss Marcello Lippi believes Napoli’s Europa League commitments and lack of squad depth could cost them the Scudetto.

Napoli extended their lead at the top of Serie A to four points on Sunday after they won 1-0 at Atalanta, but while Lippi felt they had “a very solid chance” of winning the Scudetto, he warned external factors could count against them.

“It’s an interesting campaign,” the 2006 World Cup-winning CT told Rai Radio.

“There seems to be a highly-qualified contender for the title in Napoli, while the other two, Roma and Inter, have got a bit lost, as have Lazio, even if they can’t be discounted.

“If none of them get their acts together, we’ll see a great battle between Napoli and Juve until the end of the season.

“Napoli? It could be their year because they’re top of the table and they believe in themselves, although they’ll have some problems with the Europa League or their squad.

“Still, they have an extraordinary roadmap, so they have a very solid chance of winning the title.”
