It’s a blast from the past, as ex-Milan men Roberto Donadoni and Cassano aim to upset their former club.

Massimiliano Allegri’s position was strengthened by a 1-1 Champions League draw with Barcelona, though the injury crisis continues.

Christian Abbiati, Stephan El Shaarawy, Daniele Bonera and Giampaolo Pazzini are out, while Philippe Mexes continues his four-match ban.

Matias Silvestre therefore steps into the defence, but a new trident is formed with Mario Balotelli, Robinho and Valter Birsa.

Gabriel is again chosen ahead of Marco Amelia in goal during Serie A fixtures, as the young Brazilian is ineligible for the Champions League.

Parma have had ups and downs this season, but hope Cassano and Amauri can build on their partnership, while Jonathan Biabiany’s pace can cause problems on the flank.

Antonio Mirante returns in goal after his suspension, but Stefano Okaka, Gabriel Paletta and Daniele Galloppa are unavailable.

Milan have lost just twice at the Tardini in their last 10 visits, both 1-0 results in 2003 and 2009. Last season it ended in a 1-1 draw.

Before kick-off there will be a minute’s silence in honour of Ferdinando Pasotti, the grandfather of Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi.
