Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City will reportedly challenge Napoli for the signing of Pescara star Gianluca Lapadula.
The Premier League champion told Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday that ‘we’re looking to Italy for the market and we’ve been following Lapadula for a while.’
Although the striker has been linked with a number of clubs including Juventus and Liverpool recently, Corriere dello Sport has now reported that the main competition is between the Foxes and Napoli.
The Partenopei’s good relationship with Pescara could work to their advantage, but Leicester may be willing to offer a higher fee, according to the outlet.
However, the newspaper warns that many other interested clubs could break their silence and make a move in the coming weeks.
Lapadula has come onto the radar of the big clubs after scoring 24 times in Serie B this season as well as contributing 10 assists.
