The Foxes have put together an unlikely title challenge under former Inter and Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri, and lie two points behind leaders Arsenal in the Premier League.

With Gokhan Inler, signed from Napoli this summer, likely to depart for Schalke 04, Calciomercato reports that Leicester are ready to step up their interest in De Jong.

The English side were originally thought to be offering €3m for the defensive midfielder, but the website reports that the Foxes are ready to include performance-related bonuses and a Champions League-qualification clause which would take the figure to around €4.5m.

It’s thought Leicester want a response within the next seven days, and the Rossoneri are willing to do business.

De Jong has been more reluctant to leave, but Calciomercato notes that the player previously performed well for Manchester City in the Premier League, and Leicester’s style is suited to his game.
