Relegation threatened Lecce have failed in their bid to get their game against Fiorentina switched to Sunday afternoon.

The Salentini wanted their tie to be played at the same time as Genoa’s match versus Udinese – so that the Rossoblu wouldn’t go into their encounter already knowing the outcome of the Lecce game.

Lecce-Fiorentina will thus remain as a Saturday evening game, with kick-off scheduled for 18.00 local time.

The Giallorossi are in the relegation zone, but just three points away from Genoa and safety with two games left.

Lecce boss Serse Cosmi was desperate for his side’s game to be played simultaneously with Genoa’s weekend fixture.

“We want it changed because we want the championship to be decided in the right manner,” Cosmi stated after the 1-1 draw at Juventus.

“If they don’t want to guarantee fairness then we’ll go and play on Saturday…”

The Lega Serie A have moved Juventus’ game against Cagliari this weekend so that it kicks off at the same time as Milan’s encounter with Inter.
