Talks between Lazio and Genoa for Andreas Granqvist broke down, but Igli Tare insists “we hope to find a breakthrough soon, as the player wants to join us.”
The negotiations reached an impasse this week in talks between Presidents Claudio Lotito and Enrico Preziosi.
Granqvist had been on the verge of completing his transfer over the last few days, but there have been differing reports on what caused the breakdown.
“We hope to find a breakthrough soon, as we were all ready to finish it off when something got stuck,” said Lazio director of sport Tare.
“The cause of the breakdown in talks had nothing to do with us. In any case, Granqvist wants to join Lazio.
“If there continue to be problems, then there are other options, and one of them is Xandao.”
The Biancocelesti have long been linked with the Sporting Lisbon centre-back.
