Lazio are seeking experienced midfield reinforcements and while Maurizio Sarri would relish a Jorginho reunion, Lucas Torreira might be a more affordable option.

The Biancocelesti have qualified for the Champions League after a second-placed Serie A finish, so need to bolster the squad to give Sarri more alternatives for rotation with a packed schedule.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Jorginho has been sounded out as a potential signing, but there are a few issues to be resolved first.

Arsenal only just purchased the Italo-Brazilian in January for €11m to get him from Chelsea, where he had gone in 2018 to follow his Napoli coach Sarri.

It is reported he would also have to halve his current €6.5m per season salary to make it remotely affordable even on loan for Lazio.

Instead, they are leaning towards Torreira, another familiar face to Serie A for his time at Pescara, Sampdoria and Fiorentina.

Arsenal sold the Uruguay international to Galatasaray last summer for €6m and would be prepared to sell for more or less the same figures.
