There were two controversial incidents during Atalanta’s 2-2 draw with Lazio, as Pepe Reina was struck by an object thrown from the stands and there were handball doubts over the equaliser.
The game ended 2-2 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo this afternoon thanks to Marten de Roon’s half-volley.
However, Lazio fans have pointed out that Merih Demiral potentially grazed the ball with his arm when knocking down Remo Freuler’s cross for the goal.
Just before that, there was another incident that could come back to haunt Atalanta.
Lazio were 2-1 up when Reina’s goalmouth was pelted with objects thrown from the stands behind him, including a roll of Sellotape.
The goalkeeper was then struck on the head by an object, possibly a coin, and the referee put the item in his pocket for evidence.
Reina was able to continue, but Atalanta could face further punishment for this incident.
The Gewiss Stadium is one of the few Serie A arenas without barriers between the crowd and the pitch.
