Lazio have decided to stop negotiating with free agent Daichi Kamada, who was once ready to sign for Milan, Daniele Longo reports.

The Rossoneri were heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old Japanese midfielder last month but ultimately decided to switch focus after the dismissals of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, who had set up the deal.

Kamada does not hold an EU passport, so he would take up one of the two non-EU player slots available in a Serie A squad, something that also proved problematic for Milan.

As detailed by Longo of Calciomercato.com, Lazio started working on a deal for Kamada a few weeks ago following talks with Maurizio Sarri and met his agent Roberto Tukada yesterday.

The 26-year-old’s entourage requested a contract worth €5m net per season, with €5m in commissions and a signing bonus.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito had no interest in matching these requests and broke off negotiations, definitively giving up on the Japanese midfielder.

Milan also have no interest in signing Kamada anymore, leaving him to explore his options. Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are both interested and an offer has also reportedly arrived from Saudi Arabia.
