Lazio are back in negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, according to Sky Sport Italia, although there are several obstacles to it going through.

The Biancocelesti made a poor start to the Serie A season, fumbling a lead for their 2-1 defeat to Lecce last night.

That increased the existing pressure on coach Maurizio Sarri and with Champions League action coming up, they are still short on reinforcements.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that after the deal had seemingly been abandoned, today the two clubs were back in contact.

However, there are quite a few reasons to doubt we will see Lloris play for Lazio this season.

It had been reported in L’Equipe that Lloris slammed the door shut on the move because he was not prepared to be second choice to Ivan Provedel.

Sarri is also said to be unsure that getting a big name is wise to act as understudy, preferring someone more suited to the role like Salernitana’s Luigi Sepe.

  1. Bah, the oroblem in yesterday’s wasn’t Provedel. Losing SMS was a big blow, I didn’t see a strong attack nor overwhelming ball control. Lecce fought for that win.
