Lazio are in negotiations with Torino for Italy Under-21 international midfielder Samuele Ricci.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.com, the player was requested specifically by coach Maurizio Sarri.

It is going to be a very difficult deal to get done, as he only recently signed a contract with Torino to June 2026 and the club is not eager to let him leave.

He was signed from Empoli initially on loan in January 2022 and then the move was made permanent in the summer for €8.5m.

As part of that agreement, Empoli are also owed another €2m in add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of the future transfer fee.

Last season, Ricci made 28 Serie A appearances and contributed two goals as well as one assist for the Granata.

The midfielder turns 22 next month and played in the recent Under-21 European Championships, but already has two senior caps for Italy under his belt too.
