Napoli lawyer Mattia Grassani warns they will ‘never give up’ after the ‘extraordinarily harsh’ FIGC appeal ruling on their abandoned Juventus match.
The club was docked one point and the 3-0 win handed to Juve after Napoli failed to attend the Serie A match in Turin on October 4.
Not only did the FIGC Court of Appeal reject their argument the punishment was unwarranted, the wording was even harsher in blaming Napoli for the entire situation.
“It’s an extremely stern ruling, extraordinarily harsh, that Napoli reject outright,” club lawyer Grassani told RAI News 24.
“The sentence is even harder than the first, and this causes a great deal of disappointment, because we thought that we had provided the evidence to convince the judges that Napoli did not refuse to play the match, but rather could not play it.
“From the reasoning given, there emerges patent unfairness that leaves everyone at Napoli indignant, from President Aurelio De Laurentiis to the kit staff.
“Napoli had no other choice in the chaotic hours leading up to the game, as we had in our hands the orders from two local health authorities and the Campagna regional assembly that banned us from travelling.
“Napoli will never give up. This ruling offends us and we will appeal to the third level of the justice system, which is the CONI tribunal, then eventually the TAR and State Counsel too.”
