Walter Mazzarri and Edinson Cavani are considering their future, but Ezequiel Lavezzi says “it’d be a shame” for the Coach to quit Napoli now.
Pocho was a fan favourite before demanding a transfer to PSG last summer and won the Ligue 1 title, so he knows all about the thought process that goes into these decisions.
“To be honest, I don’t know what will happen with Mazzarri,” Lavezzi told Sky Sport Italia.
“He will certainly have reasons to stay or to go. It is something that goes through only his head and only he will know the real reason behind the eventual decision.
“It’d be a shame if he did leave, because I think he built today’s Napoli side.”
Old strike partner Cavani is also refusing to commit himself to the Partenopei, as clubs overseas are prepared to pay his €63m buy-out clause.
“It depends on him and what he wants to do. It is a question for Cavani. I don’t think I’m in any condition to say whether he’ll stay or not, as at the end of the day it remains his decision.
“I had already spoken to President Aurelio De Laurentiis before we started the season. I told him it would be my final year in Naples because I wanted a change of scenery. It was a positive year and I did well. Of the clubs who came looking for me, I chose PSG.”
