Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela calls Juventus “very strong” but is “optimistic” his side can progress in the Champions League.
The teams meet next week in the Champions League Last 16, and the Argentine is familiar with Italian football following his time with Roma.
“I’m optimistic,” Lamela told Gazzetta dello Sport’s Extra Time supplement.
“I think we can do it, at the end it’ll be the details which decide who goes through. Juventus are very strong, they’ve played two Champions League finals in the last three years, but we’re strong too.
“Six Scudetti in a row say that they [Juve] have been the best team in Italy for many years, and their football is difficult, above all on a tactical level.
“Juve have character, experience, a great defence and champions in every position.”
Lamela was then asked who the better striker is between Spurs teammate Harry Kane and his compatriot Gonzalo Higuain.
“That’s difficult to answer, they have all the qualities of the best strikers in the world. They have personality and can decide a game in any moment.
“They have goals and a sense of where the goal is in their blood.
“Christian Eriksen and Miralem Pjanic? That’s hard too. Pjanic plays in a deeper position and is more of a regista.
“Eriksen covers the last 30 metres of the pitch, moving from one side to the other.
“As for Gianluigi Buffon, Buffon belongs to a particular category, the most elevated in football, that of legends.
“When you get to his age and still maintain the levels he does it’s not just down to talent but also an exceptional physique and great professionalism.
