Geoffrey Kondogbia’s agent admits the midfielder couldn’t handle the pressure at Inter and “maybe Milan can manage external situations better”.

The Frenchman is on loan at Valencia, who can buy him outright for €25m at the end of the season, after two indifferent seasons with the Nerazzurri.

“He’s happy there,” Evans Kondogbia, the player’s brother and agent told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

“He’s found a nice house, his family is happy and that’s what he’s expressly told me pleases him. No more Inter, the priority is Valencia.

“I spoke with the club recently and both the club and the President reiterated their desire to exercise this option.

“I think it will also depend on the intentions Inter have and will have for [Joao] Cancelo. We’ll definitely wait for Valencia as long as possible, as that’s what my brother wants.

“I have to do my job though and get ready for any eventuality. In fact I’ve already been contacted by three clubs – one Spanish, one from the Premier League and the other is Italian.

“Inter is too strong a team for him, there are too many players.

“I’m sincere, I swear. We have nothing against Inter, we’ve never made statements or polemicised against the fans, journalists, Coaches or directors.

“The truth, with Geoffrey has confessed in Spain but which was badly reported in Italy, is that he’s obviously not up to the level to play for a team like that. It’s like a woman who you realise is not the one for you.

“If he didn’t show up for two years, there must be a reason? He did well at Sevilla, Valencia and Monaco and he wants a team that understands him, where he doesn’t feel too much negative pressure.

“The real summary is that Inter were wrong to sign Geoffrey Kondogbia and he was wrong to go there.”

Kondogbia went to Inter after a transfer tug-of-war with Milan, would he have been better going to the other half of San Siro?

“He wanted Inter, he told [then CEO Adriano] Galliani that even when he raised his final offer. Now, thinking about it better, maybe Milan can manage external situations better.

“In fact, in my opinion, the problem was the environment because everyone knows everything about what goes on internally. My brother needs tranquility to do well.

“In his seasons with the Nerazzurri all that was talked about was how much he cost, the €40m and blah blah blah.

“It seems to me that, for being a bidone, the €25m from Valencia isn’t peanuts.”

Luciano Spalletti wasn’t happy with the way Kondogbia appeared to force the move to Spain…

“There’s no problem with him, he was clear from the beginning. He told Geoff that he wanted him to stay, but that he wouldn’t be a starter. In his head the first choices were Borja Valero and Matias Vecino.

“Starting on the bench, or staying there, didn’t feel right to us.”
