The Old Lady are in need of new defenders, with Andrea Barzagli having retired, Giorgio Chiellini turning 35 in August and Martin Caceres set to return to Lazio.
However, Diego Simeone’s side have arguably a greater need for reinforcements at the back as Diego Godin, Juanfran and Lucas Hernandez have all moved on.
