The new Coach named a strong XI for the match at Stadio Dino Manuzzi, with Andrea Pirlo, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini all returning after World Cup duty.

The Bianconeri were on top throughout the first half, with Pirlo going closest to opening the scoring, however, the Old Lady couldn’t take their chances and went in at the break goalless.

A host of changes were made at half time, with the likes of Kwadwo Asamoah, Martin Caceres and Claudio Marchisio all joining the action.

Despite this though, the champions couldn’t gel and were left humbled by the newly-promoted side as they came away with only a goalless draw.
