The Verona youth product has been linked with Inter, Milan and Juventus in recent months, but the coach believes he should stay at the Bentegodi for now.
“Matteo has all the potential to become an excellent defender,” Juric told the club’s official website. “However, we must not forget that he’s only at the beginning of his career.
“We must give him time to grow calmly and serenely. An environment like ours, without particular pressure, can be ideal for his growth.”
Verona are currently seventh in Serie A and aim to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Sampdoria on Wednesday.
