Newspaper A Bola claims that Sporting are even ready to spread the cost of the operation to allow for Inter’s Financial Fair Play limitations.
That would mean loaning Joao Mario to the San Siro outfit for €10m with a mandatory option to buy in 2017-18 for another €35m.
However, Portuguese paper Record notes that President Bruno de Carvalho has not yet given this plan the all-clear.
Joao Mario has already agreed to a five-year contract worth €3m per season, vastly improving his current wages.
The Corriere dello Sport is confident the Portugal international will fly in for a medical on Tuesday.
