The FIGC unveiled Roberto Mancini as Italy’s new Coach on Tuesday, but while Tommasi – a vocal supporter for reform in the country – praised Mancini’s credentials, he made it clear ‘so many problems’ still existed within the federation.
“Mancini? His results speak for themselves, but I think the CT was only a minor problem, given so many exist in the federation,” the former Roma midfielder told RMC Sport.
“The federal council is holding discussions and we’re trying to find a solution, which can satisfy everyone, pending structural reforms.
“There are still some parts of the new project to go over, but we’re working and making important assessments, including on reserve teams: all Serie A clubs must have the opportunity to participate.
“Balotelli in the national team? We don’t have to talk about call-ups. Mancini knows what he has to do and ultimately, it’ll be the performance and results that determine the call-ups to the new Italy. Everyone must be ready.”
