Italy icon Fulvio Collovati could lose his job with state broadcaster Rai after making sexist remarks about women.
Collovati was forced to apologise on Twitter after he said during Sunday’s broadcast of Rai 2 show ‘Quelli che il Calcio’ that women ‘can’t talk about tactics. When I hear them do so, my stomach turns.’
“I apologise if what I said at the end of ‘Quelli che il Calcio’ has impacted on the sensibilities of women, even if I said those things in a laddish way,” he replied.

“I apologise if what I said at the end of ‘Quelli che il Calcio’ has impacted on the sensibilities of women, even if I said those things in a laddish way,” he replied.
“I’m sorry, but it wasn’t my intention to offend anyone. Whoever knows me knows how much I respect women.”
However, his comments have sparked a backlash, with Italy women’s CT Milena Bertolini branding the 61-year-old ‘primitive’.
Furthermore, Calcio e Finanza writes Rai chief Fabrizio Salini is considering ‘suspending’ Collovati for breaching Article 9 of the broadcaster’s code of conduct, which stipulates a ‘respectful, non-discriminatory and non-stereotypical attitude towards women’.
The former Milan and Inter defender played 50 times for Italy, including every minute of the Azzurri’s triumphant 1982 World Cup campaign.
