Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano says it’s not easy for him to face his former club Spezia: ‘We’ll never be enemies.’
Italian left the Aquilotti in the summer to move to Florence after that the Tuscans had parted company with Gennaro Gattuso.
“It’s not a game like the others. I knew fantastic people during my two-year spell at Spezia. It won’t be easy for me. I will be their opponent for 95 minutes, but off the pitch I will never be an enemy of these people,” Italiano said at a press conference.
“We play at home and we need to show our identity and personality.”
“One of the objectives we had was to keep possession. Now we’re second for ball possession, and we can still improve.
“To do that, we need to add something up front, be more clinical. We need to turn those chances into goals.”
Fiorentina return to the pitch after Wednesday’s 1-0 loss away at Lazio.
“I’m starting to not accept defeats that are undeserved. I am angry when we lose,” said Italiano.
“We showed character against Lazio and it cannot end in defeat.”
