Milan striker Luka Jovic was strongly criticised by Italian media on Sunday following a 1-0 loss against Udinese: ‘He struggled to stay on his feet,’ wrote Tuttosport.

The Serbia international started in a home match against Udinese on Saturday night as Stefano Pioli needed to replace the injured Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze.

Pioli picked a 4-4-2 formation with Rafael Leao on the left wing and Jovic and Oliver Giroud up front. It ended with Milan’s third defeat in the last four games.

According to Italian sports papers, Jovic was the worst player on the pitch. He was rated 4/10 by Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport and 4.5 by Tuttosport, but the judgement from the Turin-based paper was probably the harshest.

‘We’d like to say something positive about the Serbian’s performance, but the rating says it all. Disastrous. He even struggled to stay on his feet,’ wrote Alessia Scurati.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s Luca Bianchin wrote the ex-Fiorentina and Real Madrid striker is not worthy of Milan.

Ratings for other Milan players were quite low as well. Tijjani Reijnders and Noah Okafor got 4.5/10, Yacine Adli was rated 5/10, while Rafael Leao, Fikayo Tomori, Alessandro Florenzi and Mike Maignan received the highest grades from Gazzetta (6/10).

Jovic was replaced at half-time by Okafor, but the Rossoneri continued struggling for goals and Roberto Pereyra eventually converted a penalty kick at minute 62, giving Udinese their first win this season.
