Pippo Inzaghi has advised Stephan El Shaarawy to remain at Milan amidst reports that he is wanted by Manchester City.
“He should stay,” the former Diavolo striker told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “He can keep growing as a player here.
“An experience abroad could be important, but I always chose to remain close to home because when things get tough then your family and friends can help.”
Milan have claimed that the 20-year-old Italian international, 16 Serie A goals in 2012-13, will not be sold this summer.
Inzaghi ended his own playing career with Milan a year ago before being handed a coaching job in the youth sector.
He will be the club’s Primavera boss next season, a role where he will have more communication with tactician Massimiliano Allegri.
“We’ve already spoken and there will be full collaboration,” Inzaghi added. “Vice-President Adriano Galliani phoned me after Allegri was confirmed in the job and handed the phone to him.
“Will we play with a 4-3-1-2 next season too? It’s only right that the youth side use the same system as the first team.
“Anyhow, the President wants four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.
“Playing with a trident attack or with a trequartista doesn’t change that much – it all depends on what players you have.”
